What is the worst experience you have had in the United States?

Xiaoxue, China
It's was my driving school experience. You know, China is a nation of bikes, and I had never experienced driving a car. When I came here, I had to learn how to drive. My first driving coach appeared just the first time, and then the second time he disappeared. I couldn't find him anymore. Then the following six months, I had six driving coaches, and I failed twice the driving test. It was mainly my fault because I was so nervous when I was taking the test. The first time I drove out of the DMV and there was a left turn but I didn't notice the traffic from the right. So, I had to go back to the DMV right after I started. That was the end. And the second time, I was so nervous that I turned the wipers on and then I couldn't turn them off. It was a sunny day and the wipers were on all the way.

Patrik, Sweden
When I first rented a room in a house, this guy was constructing a home for an elder people. And while he was doing this construction in the house, he wanted to rent out the rooms to not to have to pay the rent by himself. And I ended up renting a room. There were three of us in a house renting rooms from him so he had a total income of $1500 a month. And one morning the construction workers knocked at the door at 8:00 am without us even knowing it. And then the construction workers were there from eight until five, inside the house, while we were living there. The last few weeks when I stayed in this room, I had to step over buckets of paints to get to the bathroom. One morning when I woke up, the bathroom door was teared out. No bathroom door. So, I couldn't go to the bathroom with privacy. Then, my roommate called a lawyer, and this lawyer called up this landlord, and when the lawyer called up the landlord, he was the best guy in the world. Everything was so nice and there was no problem to give us money back for the month. But all this was because everything is about economy, about money. People are greedy about money.

Abhinand, India
The worst experience I had in America was probably in the second day when a drunk guy assaulted me on the light rail. Just came and pushed past me and I was in a new country and that was scary because I heard a lot of stories about downtown San Jose, and the first time I'm riding in this light rail I had this experience. So, that wasn't so good. But aside from that I don't think there has been anything that has been really bad.

What has been your worst experience?

i'm trying to get a job right now and everyone says that you have to be a US citizen or you have to be a resident to get a job, so that's kind of frustrating, but I do understand the system, otherwise it wouldn't be fair to the citizens here

The drivers on the road. Some people drive like crazy. If it's rush hour, people start cutting in, and often all four or fives lanes are backed up. I've almost got into an accident a few times. Other frustrating thing is that some people drive on the fast lane doing 50 mph when they're supposed to be driving around 70 mph on that lane. They should move over to the slower lanes where they belong and make space for other people to go through.

my girlfriend's stepfather is mexican and he has a problem with me, especially with my dark skin, and it's kind of like he's a racist or something, but it doesn't really bother me, because my girlfriend is like don't worry about him, the family doesn't get along with him and stuff, so that's only like the bad point so far with myself and her stepfather. so i just don't talk to him and he doesn't talk to me. there's a kind of tension when we all go for dinner...but the rest of the family is all cool with me.
