What do you think about the health care system in the US?

John, Malaysia
It's frustrating, no public medical system, I mean, the fact that they can leave such a large proportion of their people without medical cover. Even a third-world country like Malaysia has a public medical system. You don't feel like you are going to die out there if something happens to you. But here, well, if you don't pay...

I remember I was sick once and I went to the emergency room. And then, the first thing before even looking what's wrong or what is my problem, they just asked: "do you have insurance?" And that is like I am dying and you are going to ask me about my insurance. You see what I mean? I know it's a capitalist society but that's something that is really strange even. It's not really caring about the people, really. No concern about the people.

Patrik, Sweden
You see so many homeless people in downtown. There's no program to take care of them, seems like to me. You see crazy people walking around, homeless in the streets, beggars. A lot more beggars than I thought. You need the private insurance for everything. If you go to a public hospital, once I had to go there, I saw people walking around in civilian clothes. I couldn't distinguish who was a patient and who was working at the hospital. There was a really bad smell in there. It didn't seem clean to me. So, a public hospital seems pretty bad quality here. But if you have money, I'm sure there's good medical care to get.

I really do not like the medical system in this county. They don't care about one person. They have so many people going through the system every day. You spent like a month trying to make an appointment, you go to there, you have a 5 minute appointment, and then they look at you, and prescribe some drugs, and say if it doesn't help come back. That's not how it's supposed to work. I'm used to more personal relations with the doctors who are really trying to understand what I got and try to treat it.

Hi, I'd recommend watching Michael Moore's Academy Award nominated documentary called "Sicko". You'll definitely need to have a health insurance here in the US. And even then... well, just watch the documentary.
